Member Spotlight: Travis Burdick Showcased in Atlanta Film Society’s 100 Feet of Film Project

DAA-er Travis Burdick recently participated in the Atlanta Film Society’s “100 Feet of Film” Project by directing, writing, and producing his short film—The Last Ghoul— which was screened with 21 other short films on Monday, March 3rd at the Historic Plaza Theatre in Atlanta, GA. Partnering with Kodak Film, project participants are given a singe 100 foot roll of 16mm Kodak film which only allows the filmmakers roughly 3 minutes of footage with which to create their films.

Filmed on Christmas Day on a 90 year old Bell & Howell film camera, the short film stars fellow DAA-er Melody Granger as the eponymous “Last Ghoul” as well as Hughes Kitchens & Evie Somogyi Kitchens in an absurdist day in the life of our main character. During the screening’s “Meet the Filmmakers” segment, Burdick discussed creating the ghoulish mask that Melody wears by hand as well as using music created by his former production label, Doctor Gone Records, to score the work.

Way to shine, Travis! Learn more about the Atlanta Film Society and the 100 Feet of Film Project at https://www.atlantafilmsociety.org/. To learn more about The Last Ghoul, follow @ghostofgone on Instagram.
